چکیده

We present a Bayesian inference analysis of the Markevitch (1998) and Allen & Fabian (1998) cooling flow corrected X-ray cluster temperature catalogs that constrains the slope and the evolution of the empirical X-ray cluster luminosity-temperature (L-T ) relation. We find that for the luminosity range 1044.5 erg s−1 ∼< Lbol ∼< 10 46.5 erg s−1 and the redshift range z ∼< 0.5, Lbol ∝ T 2.80 −0.15(1 + z)0 +0.54 −1.22 . We also determine the L-T relation that one should use when fitting the Press-Schechter mass function to X-ray cluster luminosity catalogs such as the Einstein Medium Sensitivity Survey (EMSS) and the Southern Serendipitous High-Redshift Archival ROSAT Catalog (Southern SHARC), for which cooling flow corrected luminosities are not determined and a universal X-ray cluster temperature of T = 6 keV is assumed. In this case, Lbol ∝ T 2.65 −0.20(1 + z)0 +0.75 −0.83 for the same luminosity and redshift ranges. A Deficit of High-Redshift, High-Luminosity X-Ray Clusters: Evidence for a High Value of Ωm?

From the Press-Schechter mass function and the empirical X-ray cluster luminositytemperature (L-T ) relation, we construct an X-ray cluster luminosity function that can be applied to the growing number of high-redshift, X-ray cluster luminosity catalogs to constrain cosmological parameters. In this paper, we apply this luminosity function to the Einstein Medium Sensitivity Survey (EMSS) and the...

An SZ Temperature Decrement - X-ray Luminosity Relation for Galaxy Clusters

We present the observed relation between ∆TSZ, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature decrement due to the Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect, and L, the X-ray luminosity of galaxy clusters. We discuss this relation in terms of the cluster properties, and show that the slope of the observed ∆TSZ−L relation is in agreement with both the L − Te relation based on numerical simulations and X-...

RASS - SDSS Galaxy Clusters Survey . III . Scaling relations of galaxy clusters

We use the RASS-SDSS galaxy cluster sample to compare the quality of optical and X-ray luminosities as predictors of other cluster properties such as their masses, temperatures, and velocity dispersions. We use the SDSS spectroscopic data to estimate the velocity dispersions and the virial masses of a subsample of 69 clusters within r500 and r200. The ASCA temperature of the intracluster medium...

Galaxy cluster X-ray luminosity scaling relations from a representative local sample (REXCESS)

We examine the X-ray luminosity scaling relations of 31 nearby galaxy clusters from the Representative XMM-Newton Cluster Structure Survey (REXCESS). The objects are selected only in X-ray luminosity, optimally sampling the cluster luminosity function. Temperatures range from 2 to 9 keV, and there is no bias toward any particular morphological type. To reduce measurement scatter we extract pert...

High redshift X – ray galaxy clusters . I . The impact of point sources on the cluster properties

Context. The current generation of X-ray observatories like Chandra allows studies with very fine spatial details. It is now possible to resolve X–ray point sources projected into the cluster diffuse emission and exclude them from the analysis to estimate the " correct " X–ray observables. Aims. We wish to verify the incidence of point sources on the cluster thermal emission and to evaluate the...
